10 things to help you feel younger

10 tips to help keep you feeling younger

There is an expression, “You are as old as you feel” - it may sound like a cliché, but the way you live your daily life has a big impact on your mood, health, happiness and energy. In this respect, people in their 50s and 60s may feel younger than some in their 30s. Those who have a positive attitude towards aging live healthier and longer lives than those who have a negative attitude towards everything. If you feel stuck in a rut and bored with life, here are 10 simple changes that can help you feel younger in no time.

1. Spend time with friends

Do you remember how much fun it was to spend your free time with friends? The older you get, the more important socializing becomes. Socializing helps keep your mind active and engaged. Research also shows that personal relationships can help overcome low self-esteem that gets in the way of positive thinking. Join a walking group, a golf or bowling club, a card or chess club, a service club, or a men's club at a community center. And it will help you remember that feeling of youth.

2. Visit new places

Visiting new places is a great way to experience the childhood excitement of new and exciting things. The good news is that as we age, our enthusiasm for new places doesn't diminish. We just can't experience that excitement every day anymore because we've already been to most places. It's time to change that. Plan a trip to an exotic country or make a reservation at a new restaurant in town. Or get in the car and head to a new place you've never been before. Step out of your comfort zone and you'll be surprised how inspiring your vacation can be.

3. Take a course

What better way to feel younger than to learn something new and exciting. It could be something as simple as a pottery class, or something as serious as a university course to get that degree you've always dreamed of but never got. Learning new things will keep your brain in a positive state and help you feel younger in everything you do.

4. Be physically active

An active lifestyle is a very important and effective way to stay young. “There are so many ways to keep fit these days. You don't have to run or go to the gym. “Instead, take up a physically active hobby such as gardening or join a climbing group. You'll be surprised how much more alert you feel with regular physical activity, and you'll be more open to meeting new friends.

5. Spend time with people of different ages

Socializing with older and younger people will help you learn new things. If you have children or grandchildren, you already know who from the younger generation to spend time with, just give them a call and suggest them. But if you expand your circle of friends, you can socialize with them more often. If you only have people your age in your circle, consider joining an intergenerational group. There may be a group of people in your town who share your interests and would like to socialize with you.

6. Reconnect with your partner

When was the last time you were with your partner or ex-partner? Seeing each other again can make you feel like a teenager. This is a great way to rekindle your relationship. Love can be rekindled! It is known that certain areas of the brain are involved in love. These areas light up in brain scans when they are in contact with the person they love. In some couples, these areas can glow for long periods of time, indicating that the brain is active and positively affecting your health.

7. Find a job or part-time work

Meaningful work and regular work that you enjoy allow you to stay young and energetic. A job gives you the opportunity to actively use mental skills such as problem solving and completing complex tasks. It also shows that you are still valuable to the people around you and the world and that your contributions are still needed.

8. Set an interesting goal

When was the last time you set an exciting goal to strive for. Find a physical goal that you can achieve, develop a plan to accomplish it, and work toward that goal. For example, prepare to run a 5k, climb a mountain, attend a bootcamp class, or walk a mile every day for a month. Regular exercise will give you confidence and goal setting will give you a sense of accomplishment. Both will help you feel younger.

9. Take control of your life

Studies show that people who take control of their lives - eating right, exercising regularly and setting goals - feel younger than those who don't. When you have more control, you feel younger and you feel like you can accomplish more. You feel that what you are doing is important.

10. Positive Attitude

Don't succumb to stereotypes that at some age you can do something and at some age you can't. It can be difficult to overcome these prejudices, but you should always remember that age does not determine whether you have the necessary skills, abilities and ambitions to succeed.
